West Allis announces plans for hotel near State Fair grounds

A new hotel complex is headed to West Allis near the corner of 82nd St. and Greenfield Ave. directly across the street from the State Fair grounds. The city hopes this new $13 million project will help garner more tourism dollars.

West Allis Mayor Dan Devine says, "West Allis welcomes this new partnership and private investment from a proven leader in the hospitality industry."

The four story hotel will house 100 rooms, and an 8,000 sq. ft. banquet hall with a 300 person seating capacity. According to city leaders this new hotel will bring about 80 full-time and part-time jobs to the City of West Allis.

This new hotel takes up just 3.2 acres of the 8 acre site the city helped secure. The full eight acre site is comprised of the old Milwaukee Gray Iron Foundry, former Mykonos Restaurant, and seven houses.

$38 million development coming to West Allis

WEST ALLIS — West Allis officials announced a $38 million development at the site of the Old Pressed Steel tank facility.

A new health care campus is expected to come to the neighborhood. The campus will include a nursing facility, residential care and corporate offices. It’s expected to bring with it 300 new jobs.

City officials aren’t saying which health care company is moving into the neighborhood, but Patrick Schloss says a deal with the developer is a huge relief. “Seeing a new vision for this site and attracting such a large development and a comprehensive health care facility like this, as well as a corporate headquarters, I mean that’s a big win for our city,” Schloss said.

The new healthcare campus will join an apartment building across the street, and Schloss says there’s more to come.
